The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has allowed the Common Service Centers (CSC), a special purpose vehicle of the Ministry of Information Technology and Electronics with designated bank correspondents, to offer the ability to upgrade the Aadhar card in about 20,000 centers. Aadhar-related services can also be accessed by individuals at bank branches, post offices, and other centers in UIDAI-authorized government locations.

Aadhar is a unique 12-digit identity number that residents of India can voluntarily obtain based on their biometric (fingerprint, iris scan, and facial photo) and demographic (date of birth, name, gender, address) data. The Aadhar or e-Aadhar card is valid proof of identity.
